NorQuest College Wireless Network Terms and Conditions of Use
Access Limitations
Use of this wireless network is provided as a free service by NorQuest College. By using this wireless network, you are agreeing and acknowledging that you have read and accepted these terms and conditions of use. You are agreeing that access to this wireless network is completely at the sole discretion of NorQuest College and that your access to this wireless network may be suspended or terminated at any time.
Student Obligations
- You agree to ensure that your device meets the stated system requirements, including current Windows updates and current virus signatures from authorized antivirus applications.
- You agree to abide by the NorQuest Student Computer Use Policy.
Student’s Assumption of All Risks of Use
You agree to and hereby assume all risks arising from, connected to, or resulting from your use of this wireless network. NorQuest College assumes no responsibility for the configurations, security, or files on any device connecting to this network. NorQuest College is not responsible for any changes you make to your wireless device’s settings. NorQuest College is not responsible for problems arising from the installation of anti-virus software or Windows updates.
System Requirements and Conditions
In order to access the NorQuest Wireless Network, student-owned laptops must meet the following system requirements and conditions. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure their laptops meet these requirements:
- The system must have wireless capabilities (i.e., a wireless adapter).
- The system’s operating system must have or be patched to support WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access protocol version 2).
- Students will be required to connect to the wireless network identified as “NORQUEST.”
- Students will be required to authenticate with their EDU domain user account, via WPA2 capable software (i.e., Microsoft Windows built in wireless supplicant software).
- Students will be required to download and install the College Network Access Control clean access agent.
- Students will be required to log in to the Network Access Control clean access agent.
- The client/system will have to meet the following computer health check Network Access Control requirements:
- The latest Microsoft Windows updates and patches must be installed.
- An approved antivirus software program must be installed and running with current virus signatures.
The following are College-approved antivirus programs:
- McAfee
- Norton Symantec
- Trend Micro
- Microsoft
- AVG (free antivirus software)
Supported Operating Systems
- Windows XP (minimum: Service Pack 2 (SP2), recommend: SP3).
- Vista (all versions, recommend: SP2).
Hardware Requirements
- Minimum supported: Intel or AMD - 1.3 GHz processer (or greater), 512 MB memory, 400 MHz FSB (or greater), and a wireless adapter capable of supporting the 802.11g protocol
- Recommended: Intel Core 2 Duo t7250 2.00 GHz processer (or greater), 2 GB memory, 800 MHz FSB, and a wireless adapter capable of supporting the 802.11n protocol
