Quick Question  

You're in class, everyone else is taking notes and so are you . . great, but what do you do with the notes? You carry them back and forth to school and you may look at them a couple of times before quizzes and tests. Can you make your notes more effective for your learning?

Learning Outcomes   After you know and practice this Notes-4-Learning strategy you be able to take better notes and use them more effectively to learn.
Strategy  

Notes-4-Learning allows you to take more effective notes that are easier to learn from. Notes-4-Learning places notes into four columns, hence including '4' in its name. It consists of three processes which are Recognizing, Recording and Reviewing.

Guided Practice   Before your next class set up some note pages as described on the one page handout. Read through the Notes-4-Learning One Page Handout so you know the steps for notetaking and can use them.

Apply the Strategy   Bring the one page handout and keep it with you as you go to your classes. Remember writing notes has a purpose and that is to allow you to learn the material presented in class. Use the Notes-4-Learning each time you take notes.
